While retaining the standard worm-and-wheel fine feed drive to the carriage, the "Meteor" could be fitted, as an optional extra, with a neatly-made bracket to permit screwcutting by changewheels. In addition, a fully-enclosing guard in cast aluminium was also available, though this seems to be an even rarer fitting. As so few surviving Flexispeed lathes have this arrangement - with or without the guard - it must have been an expensive extra.
