James Grose was a London-base store that, like the better known Gamages, sold a bewildering variety of items, from car and motorcycle accessories to ice skates, camping equipment, bicycles, clothes--you name it. So, just like Gamages, Grose ordered from Portass a batch of the Model S lathe - and no doubt Mr. Portass, keen to cut down dealing with chatty, time-wasting and awkward individual customers would have welcomed such trade with open arms.
