600 series lathe with the drive-cover guard swung open.
The overlapping of the spindle drive belts and carriage-drive pulleys made for a compact installation - but meant poor access to the nut that had to be slackened to change the tumble-reverse setting.

The drive belt was fitted with an effective tensioning device.
Motor pulley, top left, drove to a countershaft idle pulley, centre. The nut between the vertical runs of the Poly-V belt was slackened to allow the tumble reverse lever to be moved.
