With its up-to-date rectangular styling of the major casting, the late-model Saupe could be equally as well equipped as the earlier versions. It appears that two types of countershaft were offered: a separate unit, not dissimilar to the type supplied with the earlier DMT-160, and a version carried on an adjustable plate bolted to the back of the bed. Both would seem to have had a 3-step pulley on the motor driving a layshaft with a 3-step pulley on one end and another three step (driving the spindle) at the other..
