Available over the years in several versions, the Elect was made with a choice of two bed lengths: 15" with one supporting pedestal foot and admitting 5.5" between centres and 18" with two pedestals and admitting 8.5" between centres. The maximum collet capacity was 5/16" (0.315" or #80 metric) and the spindle, when fitted with plain, hardened cone bearings, had a top speed of 6,500 rpm - and was guaranteed to run to within 0.000025" concentricity. When a ball-bearing headstock was specified, the maximum speed rose to 18,000 rpm (around those attainted by early 1960s Honda GP 50 cc motorcycle engines and from year 2000 10-cylinder Formula 1 racing cars) - and the spindle ran true to within 0.0002".
