Deckel FP4A, FP41A, FP42A & Early NC Versions
A larger and stronger version of the far more common Deckel FP1, the FP2 is, in many ways, a more useful machine. It was built in two basic versions - early and late, with some seldom-found, special late-model variations such as the FP2LB. The distinguishing feature between the two being the mounting of the motor which was either internally or externally. While the FP2LB has characteristics of both the old crank-dial FP2 and the FP3 (the overarm design, all the FP "L" machines were made with a column from an existing model FP2L - the column from an FP2 FP3L and FP3LV the column from an FP3 FP42NC the column from an FP4NC FP2L has a "rounded" ram casting with 200 mm of Y-axis travel. The FP2LB has the angled ram casting with 300 mm travel (picture at the bottom of the page). The vertical head option for the FP2L was the FP2 Long-reach Head. The FP2LB offered the heavier head with the front-mounted crank for 100 mm quill travel. Both models used the same traveling column adapted from the first generation FP2 (with most Canadian-supplied machines of the later FP2LB type.
