Introduced in 1983 to replace the original Maximat V10/V10P, the Compact 10 had the same centre height of 5.5" and between centres capacity of 26.5" of the Maximat Super 11, but was a much more lightly-built machine with the geared headstock replaced by a belt-drive unit, screwcutting by changewheels (no gearbox was offered) and the power shaft, together with its apron-mounted power cross-feed mechanism, removed..
