The popular, inexpensive and well-built Metalmaster lathe was built in 12, 14 and 16-inch swing versions - with actual swings of 141/2, 161/2 and 181/2 inches respectively. The "Metalmaster" was built in at least two types - an early version of the 1930s and early 1940s, and a later machine, probably introduced in the late 1940s.
The date of production can usually be found cast into the underside of the headstock cover.
Can any reader help with a picture of the screwcutting plate from the gearbox of a Metalmaster  of any year? If you

The Metalmaster as produced in 1953. This version appears to have been current from the late 1940s
