Though to be one of the last in a long series of bench precision lathes made by Riken, this model was almost a direct copy of the Schaublin 70 as shown towards the bottom of this page. Even the heavy metal stand was given a typically Schaublin swing-open drawer. The headstock drive was particularly rugged with jockey pulleys employed to ensure that the belt had the maximum possible wrap-around and the ability to be properly tensioned. Interestingly, the Company had, by this stage, reverted to the original method locating items on the bed using the front edge and a single central slot with one 90-degree and one angled side.
