Matrix-branded machine tools were made originally by the Coventry Gauge & Tool Company in Fletchanstead, Coventry - the Company eventually becoming part of the Churchill-Matrix Group. Most of the company's early output (before the Churchill connection) centered around very high-quality thread and gear grinding machines, cylindrical and surface grinders and equipment to sharpen taps and dies and take height-precision measurements of threaded components.
