Gaston Dufour, once a leading machine-tool manufacturer was based at 143, Boulvard Chanzy, Montreuil, just to the east of central Paris. The company was best known for its range of milling machines, these being of the heavier industrial type and intended for both production and general use in industrial workshops. In essence, the Gaston Dufour range of milling machines was very similar to that produced in England by the Leicester-based firm of Adcock and Shipley. While the extensive Gaston Dufour factory remains standing, the company no longer trades.
By the 1970s the range consisted of vertical, horizontal, universal and ram-head types in a very wide variety of sizes and configurations; models available included the Nos. 51, 52, 53, 59, 62, 101, 130, 160, F-164, F-195, 221R, 221N, 223, 225, 230, 231, F.250, 302, 624, 624C, 624D, CS-2533, PS, CN and CNC models - many of which are covered in the following pages, the various models' specification being found as the last picture displayed.
