Early Dolze & Slotta Lathe

At the top of the page, an older Dolze & Slotta, still in fine working order, complete with what must be a complete set of screwcutting changewheels and now equipped with a built-on countershaft. With a centre height or around 6 inches (150 mm) and taking around 40 inches (1000 mm) between centres it would almost certainly have been built between 1900 and the early 1920s, it bears all the maker's family design hallmarks - including that very long-travel top slide with its tapering top section.
Below, painted blue and red, in a Dolze & Sloota from the 1950s A Dolze & Slotta from the 1950s fitted with the spindle-speed gearbox inside the base of the headstock end plinth. Note, again, the top slide, it might even be interchangeable with that from the antique lathe.
