Still very active in the manufacture of large machines tools, for many decades Broadbent have been responsible for offering a particularly wide range of lathes. One of their specialities was huge spindle bore "Oil-Country" type, while another was massive machines such as 4860 Series shown on this page. Introduced in the 1970s, the 4860 was available with swings of 48 inches, 56 inches and 60 inches (1220 mm, 1422 mm and 1524 mm) and with a common between-centres capacity 15 feet (4572 mm). For customers wanting a similarly robust but smaller lathe, Broadbent offered the contemporary Series 2534.
