27-inch Heavy-duty manufacturing lathe. Designed for the rapid production and manufacturing of heavy, plain-turned work such as shafts and forging, this lathe was intended to be a long-lasting workshorse and was constructed - in relation to its limited centre height - with a deep and heavy bed. Simple cross slides were fitted to the twin saddles and the makers claimed that the elimination of complicated mechanisms would not only add to the machine's reliability, but enable a comparatively inexperienced operator to quickly get to grips with the controls and start turning out profitable jobs without delay.
