A complete Data Pack is available for the Atlas 6-inch lathe
Restored by Jim Critser in the USA, his very early edition of the Atlas 6-inch short-bed Model 612 lathe is fitted with the bed-attached, Type M6-20 countershaft - and, amazingly, its original Atlas Quality decal on the (M6-28) changewheel cover. Stamped into the tailstock-end of the bed is the serial number - M501 - such identification being used until at least M4190.
Fortunately, little was needed to restore this well-preserved example; there were no broken parts and very little wear. The paint did need a little touching up, this being carefully colour-matched to the original.
Judging by the numbers surviving, the 12-inch between-centres model was far less popular than the only slightly more expensive 18-inch version..
