Backgeared and screwcutting - and very similar to the "LL" Type that used a conventional flat-topped bed with V-edges - this 100 mm x 600 mm Wolf, Jahn used a bed more often found on plain-turning precision lathes with a flat top, bevelled sides and a central T-slot. However, in this case, the top section of the central slot was also bevelled and used, in conjunction with the rear outer bevel, to locate the headstock and tailstock. The carriage bore on the top surfaces and located against the front and inner rear bevels, gib blocks under the front and back of the apron preventing lift.
