Today, the Walter Company (Gotthile Walter GMBH) is one of the technology leaders in this industrial sector and make a range of advance, multi-angle, CNC-controlled dividing heads, rotary tables and associated equipment.
Founded in 1936 by Mr. Gotthilf Walter as a mould making company for the concrete industry, over the decades it evolved a range of indexing, dividing and rotary table equipment more suited to the machine-tool market - though wider applications have also been found for these units with a friend of the writer using them as part of a complicated process to pack products for the retail market. Even by the early 1960s Walter had fitted some of its units with digital readouts and by the early 1970s was equipping units with NC controls.
