Wabeco millers are constructed along traditional European lines, following the design lead set by the original (much copied) Emco FB2. Apart from the simplest version, the F100E, which has 50 mm steel-bar main column, the machines can be specified with any combination of short or long table and hand, power or CNC controls - the latter, whilst still permitting normal manual operation, allows full computer control through an Wabeco-supplied interface by a standard PC. The base 1100E is fitted with a hand-controlled 450 mm x 180 mm table - with movements of 260 mm longitudinally and 150 mm across - and an electronically-controlled variable spindle speeds from 180 to 3000 rpm. The head, which can be inclined 90 degrees to each side, has a fine feed up and down the column by means of a long threaded bar, controlled by a top-mounted hand lever, with (most importantly) the head keyed to the bar to retain alignment during long movements. A quick-feed drilling action is also fitted, which (unlike the fine feed) moves the quill when the head is inclined. The larger machines are all based on a rectangular section cast-iron column and can be specified with either the same table as the 1100 or, as the Model F1210E, with a 700 x 180 mm table having 500 mm of longitudinal and 150 mm of cross travel..
