Unknown Lathes Home Page
Thought to be of British manufacture and off the very simplest, most basic kind - with both the 8 mm collet headstock headstock and tailstock both immovable and formed as part of the bed - this "watchmaker's lathe" almost resembles a large set of "turns". All the major casting are in nickel-plated bronze, including what must be a unique design of detachable bed feet. One can only guess at the year of manufacture - possible the 1930s or 1940s -when a such a huge variety of lathes for watchmakers was available both new and second-hand from long-established makers (together with vast ranges of essential accessories), that one wonders which market segment the maker of this very simple lathe had in mind..
