An unusually large lathe to have a cantilever bed supported on a single cast-iron plinth, this unknown machine - with its lack of guarding and particular styling - probably dates from the 1920s. Fitted with backgearing - clustered just inside the front headstock bearing as on many much smaller lathes - the flat-belt driven spindle appears to run in adjustable bronze bushes.
