Unknown Lathes No. 51
Unknown Lathes Home Page
Almost certainly built between 19305 and 1940, this approximately 5" x 24" backgeared and screwcutting lathe has a V-way bed, a robust headstock spindle with a large bore and a well-arranged saddle with a centrally positioned cross slide. The robust countershaft is at odds with the fact that no changewheel guard is fitted - nor does there appear to be any provision to mount one, a safety failing that had largely disappeared by the late 1930s.
