Unknown Lathes Home Page
Yet another unknown small lathe, crudely constructed from aluminium castings and likely to have been sold in tiny numbers. The cross and top slides are almost identical in design to those of the Emco Unimat lathe (first manufactured in late 1953) with the slides carried on pairs of round bars. Unusual features include the headstock being split vertically - and closed down on the spindle by screws passing front to back - and the tailstock where its spindle is secured by a bolt-on cap split partially across its diameter to provide a means of both adjusting the sliding fit and locking in down.
Despite the low-cost approach, the headstock spindle is bored to take draw-tube-retained collets.
