The pictures tell the story - a unique design. What can have been in the mind of the builder or, what on earth was he asked to construct?. The possibility exists that the bed is home-made to accommodate existing parts - yet the two "tailstocks" really are of an unusual construction. While the headstock looks to have a poor cosmetic finish quite at odds with that normally found on a watchmaker's lathe, other elements exhibit a rather better approach, notably the "tailstocks" and compound slide rest assembly. Oddly, the collets, both wire and stepped look poorly finished, leading one to the conclusion that somebody has, indeed, assembled, modified and added to a set of already-existing lathe parts.
