Resident in the United States--and almost certainly from that country--the design of this little backgeared and screwcutting lathe would seem to date from the late 1800s to perhaps the mid-1920s. Unusual in having its headstock pulley and backgears in bronze, the lathe is nevertheless of conventional design and survives with a contemporary ring-scroll 3-jaw chuck as well as a collet draw-tube.
In place of a proper compound slide rest assembly with both cross and top slides, just a single swivelling tool slide is fitted - an odd omission considering the otherwise rather complete specification.
