Almost certainly of German origin - the second keeper bought it in that country from the original owner - this well-built, robust lathe is of absolutely conventional design and could have been first manufactured at any point from the mid-1930s to the late 1940s.
Around 125 mm centre height and 700 mm between centres, the lathe has been beautifully rebuilt and features a Myford-like backgear assembly clustered behind the front spindle bearing. Other points of notice include a particularly heavy saddle casting and a 3-speed countershaft whose spindle is carried in outsized roller bearings.
