Built from the late 1970s into the early 1980s, the "Table Type" Union WMW BFT100 and BFT125 and the "Floor Type" BFP125, BFP160 and BFP200 were a steady advance on earlier models with, as before, the number allocated to each model identifying the diameter of its main spindle. In addition to a number of larger machines, existing models all had significant improvements to their specification with more powerful motors, enhanced spindle speed and feed ranges and improved capacities. For example, when compared with the first model of BFT125, the later BFT125/1 had a motor of 14 rather than 9 kW, spindle speeds increased from a maximum of  eighteen to twenty-seven and the number of tables feeds from thirty-six to seventy-two (the facing slide to-and-from motion had 36) and an increase in weight from 20.7 to 24.7 tons.
