Although of similar appearance to the example illustrated here, this earlier T. Taylor lathe is different in almost every detail: a headstock casting with bearing posts set at right-angles to the base and without corner fillets or other bracing, taper-cone spindle bearings, a 4 instead of 3-step headstock pulley (with half-round not  V-section grooves) a compound slide rest of entirely different design (with balanced-ball not crank handles on the feed screws) and narrower backgears that appear to be of a coarser pitch and which slide into engagement instead of being carried on an eccentric shaft.
