Like many of the TOS range of milling machines the FYA-21 and FYA-41 were part of a set of machines that used the same main column, knee, table assembly and drive system. Other models in the range consisted of the FWA-31, FWA-39, FWA-41 Universal (with swing tables) and the FXA-31 & FXA-41 Horizontal. Identical in almost all respects save for the size of their main drive motor and tables - 97 kW and 1350 x 310 mm on the FYA-31 and 10 kW and 2000 x 41 mm on the FYA-41 - both shared the same 32 rates of table feed, these being, in mm per minutes, from 12 to 1010 longitudinally, 9 to 756 in traverse and 6 to 505. While table travels were reduced when using power, by hand the maximums available were, for the FYA-31, longitudinally 700 mm, in traverse 280 mm and vertically 290 mm - the corresponding figures for the FYA-41 being 1070, 370 and 260 mm. Reflecting their different sizes and capacities, the 21 spindle speeds were adjusted slightly, these ranging from 10 to 1500 r.p.m. on the FYA- 31 and from 28 to 1330 r.p.m. on the FYA-41.
