Qualters & Smith never made lathes but, when part of the Kerry Group did brand smaller machines made by Kerry and much larger ones by Broadbent-Schofield - the latter an amalgamation of Henry Broadbent Ltd. of Sowerby Bridge and Oldfield and Schofield Ltd of Boothtown, Halifax. The earliest "AG" type Kerry lathes appear not to have carried Qualters & Smith branding but numbers of the later types did, the Models 1124/1140 and 1324/1340, carrying badges marked either Qualters and Smith or Q & S. It is believed that a few Harrison L5 lathes were also sold using Q & S badges, this at a time when Harrison changed hands and became, for a time, part of the same company grouping.
