American Monarch Lathes were of especially high quality with one particular model, the 10EE toolroom lathe, finding especial favour. This 1938 "factory tour" takes the reader through the various manufacturing processes that explain why Monarch lathes were considered amongst the finest available. It appears that the photographer may have been by Robert Yarnall Richie, whose superb work can also be seen in a commission undertaken for the Hendey Machine Co. in 1943 - the wonderfully atmospheric, "Hendey Factory Tour". Other interesting factory tours are those for the German companies Koepfer, VDF, Maho and Index, the English Dean, Smith & Grace and Archdale - together with some inside views of Herbert, Wadkin, Colchester and Lang.
