A classic precision drill press by the Swiss maker Ed.Luthy & Co. AS of La Chaux-de-Fonds. This drill - and the Sallaz machines shown here - are believed to have been used in the Bolivia watch factory once located in Queens NY; the evidence being that a Bolivia bench micrometer both came, originally, from the same USA seller. A notable future of the drill is the inclusion of built-in "oil cups" on the upper and lower bearings and, instead of a chuck, a tiny collet used to hold a 1/8" countersink. Other lightweight drill presses and similar models include Aciera, Cameron, Baby Grand, Champion, Baldwin, Dixi, Dumore, Hamilton, Hauser, IME, Luthy, Meepos, Micromeccanica, Oldak and Apex, Paco, Progress No.10, Ruka, Schaublin, Sher and WA-CO..
