Gornati Oreste & Co. were in based in Legano, Italy and for many years made a well-known and respected line of centre lathes. Their smallest centre model was the straight-bed LEOPARD 1 with a centre height of 150 mm (6") and a choice of four between-centres' capacities: 600 mm (23.6"), 800 mm (31.5"), 1000 mm (39.4") and 1500 mm (59"). The LEGOOR 180/SN was the next largest machine, with a centre height of 180 mm (7") and, except for the 600 mm option, the same choice of between-centres' capacities as the Leopard 1. The remainder of the range consisted of the following models: LEGOOR 200 centre height 200 mm (7.9") - between centres' capacity 1000, 1500 or 2000 mm (39.4", 59" and 78.7") LEGOOR 230-250 centre height either 230 or 250 mm - with a range of between centres' capacities from 1000 to 4000 mm (39.4" to 157.5") LEGOOR 250-300 centre height 250 or 300 mm (9.8" to 11.8") - with between centres' capacities from 1000 to 6000 mm (39.4" to 236") LEGOOR 360/236 - a special "big-bore" model with a 360 mm (14") centre height and between-centres' capacities from 1000 to 6000 mm and a headstock spindle with a huge 236 mm (9.3") hole though it. LEGOOR 400-450 centre height 400 or 450 mm and between centres' capacities of 1000 to 6000 mm. GEGOOR 400-45 Numerically Controlled lathe with between centres' capacities of 1000 to 3000 mm. The "Electronica" slant bed was also produced; this had centre heights of 300 or 350 mm (11.8" and 13.8") and a selection of between-centres' capacities ranging from 1000 to 3000 mm (39.4" to 118"). The motor power was 20 - 30 HP and provided constant torque and power all the way from 5 to 1000 rpm. The standard spindle bore was 104 mm - but one to accept 160 mm was also offered.
