Although over the years a number of larger metal-turning lathes branded with the Ford name (and using the Ford script) nothing like this has ever surfaced before.
Discovered in Dearborn MI, (the original home of the Ford Motor Company) this very unusual 40-inch long wood-turning lathe has both its headstock and tailstock made from wood. Oddly, one pulley has three dots arranged in a triangular pattern (was this a symbol used by Ford in its early days?) and part of the handwheel has the traditional Ford cursive script. What this means is anybody's' guess: were the dots just a coincidence and the handwheel formed from some scrap part of a Ford car?
