First manufactured during the 1980s and still available today (2022) as the FNGJ-40 and FNGJ-50, the TOS FNGJ-20 was a development of the early F22 and later FN20, FN32 and FN40 precision universal milling machines. Although following the same general layout with a ram head and the main table being positioned vertically at the front, at first this new series miller lacked the ultimate versatility of the older types in not having the option of  fully universal, swivelling, tilting and rotating table. Only in later years was this option offered (as Accessory TU 32N) though compensating for this was the fitting as standard of an advanced control system carried on a remote plinth.
