Buffalo Drill Press - Buffalo Forge Co.

Buffalo Forge Wood Machines

The Buffalo Forge Company was based in the town of Buffalo, N.Y. and best known for their range of forges and forging equipment; they also manufactured a range of metal cutting and forming equipment including power presses, punches, shears, bar cutters, drills, anvils and anvil tools, vises, saw benches, bandsaws, hand jointers, single and double wood surfacers (planers), grindstones and wood-turning lathes sold under the "American" brand name. Thought to have survived until 1957, Buffalo Forge also offered several sizes of drill press. The one shown below is a Model 15, with a No.2 Morse taper - though very much larges types were also offered including the heavy No.18 that stood 8 feet tall and had a huge No.5 Morse taper spindle.
Perhaps first built in the 1930s (it is very similar, for example, to the contemporary models sold by Atlas) the No.15 appears to have been offered for bench mounting, as a floor model and also ganged up with several drills on one stand.
