Built in a small batch during 1953, this remarkable home-built WW-type watchmakers' lathe was constructed by a Mr. Bønding, an, an engineer at Kristian Kirks Telefonfabrikker, Horsens in Denmark. The centre height was the traditional 50 mm and the bed length 410 mm. Wisely, Mr. Bønding decided to employ the easily-obtained and very popular Schaublin 10 mm collets in the headstock spindle. With nothing to constrain his enthusiasm, the builder employed a compound slide rest assembly with both the top and cross slide each having an unusually generous amount of travel - the former being able to cover almost the full extent of the between-centres' capacity.
Clever details extended to the neat, built-on drive system where, fitted to a slide, the motor could be unlocked and moved forwards or backwards to tighten, simultaneously, both belts - the countershaft being hinged on its base and so allowed to float freely to take up the correct position..
