After a precision lathe, the most useful machine tool for the watchmaker is undoubtedly a sensitive miniature drill press. Although Bergeon manufactured stand-alone drills - which could be run from the lathe countershaft - they also offered a beautifully-made attachment that - for the impecunious - converted the lathe into a drilling machine. The unit was formed with a hole to accept the lathe bed, and a bracket that slotted into the standard lathe foot.
