Azeta Lathes
Azeta Milling Machines
Azeta, with a factory in Legnano and head offices in Milan, were manufactures of centre lathes, milling machines and boring mills. Their 1960s and 1970s lathe range consisted of very sturdily built industrial machines, the smallest of which was the Mediorapid Super 180 of 180 mm (7")centre height and available with between-centres capacities of 800 and 1500 mm (31.5" and 59".) The 58 mm bore spindle (236") could be spun under the influence of a 5HP motor at twelve different speeds ranging from a low of 26 to a high of 1250 rpm. The bed was provided with a detachable gap - with a swing capacity of 600 mm (26.3"). A hydraulic-copying attachment and digital read-out system were on the options' list.
All fitted with detachable gap beds, the larger lathes, were designated with a TMR prefix and consisted of machines with centre heights of 200, 230, 250, 300 and 350 mm - the centre height being taken as the model number.
The TMR 200 Super was available with between-centre distances of 100, 1500 and 2000 mm whilst the rest of the range offered the choice of 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 and 4000 mm (59", 79", 98", 118" and 157"). In addition, the TMR 250 could be ordered in a short bed, 1000 mm version.
Spindle speeds varied between the models, being:
TMR 200 Super 12 speeds from 25 to 2000 rpm - spindle bore 60 mm (2.4") - swing in gap 640 mm
TMR 230 Super 12 or 24 speeds 13 - 2000 rpm - spindle bore 60 mm - swing in gap 700 mm
TMR 250 12 speeds 21 - 1600 rpm - spindle bore 60 mm - swing in gap 730 mm
TMR 250 Super 12 speeds 25 - 1500 rpm - spindle bore 75 mm (3") - swing in gap 800 mm
TMR 300 12 speeds 21 - 1600 rpm - spindle bore 60 mm - swing in gap 830 mm
TMR 300 Super 12 speeds 25 -1500 rpm - spindle bore 75 mm - swing in gap 900 mm
TMR 350 16 speeds 17 - 1500 rpm - spindle bore 75 mm - swing in gap 930 mm
TMR 350 Super 12 speeds 25-1500 rpm - spindle bore 75 mm - swing in gap 1000 mm
