Manufactured from the 1940s until the 1960s, the Archdale twist drill grinding and point thinning machines were widely-used, industrial-class models and employed in many different trades. It appears that two versions of the drill grinder were made, both of essentially the same design and specification, but with the later model with modern-looking angular lines and the earlier cast-iron stand replaced by one fabricated from welded steel plate. While the earlier type was given a typically non-descriptive Archdale Number (14751) though later (when sold using the Staveley brand) it was bereft of any model name or number.
