Amolco Milling Attachment and Milling Machine
Better known for their once-popular, motorised, bolt-on vertical milling attachment Myford Series 7 and 10 lathes - and with adaptor base fittings available for Boxford and Atlas machines as well - the English Amolco drilling machine Manufactured by N. Mole & Co. (Machine Tools) Ltd. of Watford, Seldom found, it is likely that only a couple of hundred were built, the highest serial number so far discovered being 186. Well made in cast iron and steel, the drill was mounted on an 8-inch square base, with its 8-inch square table equipped with two slots and a central hole for clear-though drilling. Instead of the four speeds spanning the same 325 to 1600 r.p.m. of the milling attachment, those on the drill were considerable faster at 570 to 3500 r.p.m.
The milling attachment was also offered a complete milling machine with the usual compound table - details of this machine can be found here.
